Commonwealth Masters and PhD scholarships 2020 UK for Pakistani Students


Funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID), Commonwealth Masters and Ph.D. scholarships allow talented and motivated individuals to gain advanced knowledge and skills required for sustainable development, and are aimed at those who could not otherwise afford their studies in the UK.

Programs offered:

Commonwealth Masters and Ph.D. scholarships are for candidates from low and middle-income Commonwealth countries, for full-time Masters & Doctoral study (Ph.D.) at a UK University. These scholarships are offered under the following six themes:
  • Science and technology for development
  • Strengthening health systems and capacity
  • Promoting global prosperity
  • Strengthening global peace, security, and governance
  • Strengthening resilience and response to crises
  • Access, inclusion, and opportunity

Benefits of the program / FINANCIAL COVERAGE

The Scholarship will cover the following:

  • Approved airfare from your home country to the UK and return at the end of your award (the CSC will not reimburse the cost of fares for dependants, nor usually the cost of journeys made before your award is finally confirmed).
  • Approved tuition fees.
  • Stipend (living allowance) at the rate of £1,084 per month or £1,330, for those at universities in London metropolitan area (rates quoted at 2018/2019 levels).
  • Warm clothing allowance, where applicable.
  • Study travel grants towards the cost of study-related travel within the UK or Overseas.
  • Provision towards the cost of fieldwork undertaken overseas (usually the cost of one economy class return airfare to your fieldwork location) was approved.
  • Paid mid-term visit (airfare) to your home country (unless you have claimed or (intend to claim) spouse and/or child allowances during your scholarships, or have received a return airfare to your home country for fieldwork).
  • Family allowances as follows:
  • Spouse allowance of £233 per month if you and your spouse are living together at the same address in the UK (unless your spouse is also in receipt of a scholarship; other conditions also apply) Child allowance of £233 per month for the first child, and £114 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your spouse and children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK.
  • If you are widowed, divorced, or a single parent, child allowance of £465 per month for the first child, and £114 per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, if you are accompanied by your children and they are living with you at the same address in the UK.

The CSC's family allowances are intended to be only a contribution towards the cost of maintaining your family in the UK. The true costs are likely to be considerably higher, and you must be able to supplement these allowances in order to support any family members who come to the UK with you.

Duration of the Programme

The duration of the scholarship program is valid for one year for Master & three years for Ph.D. starting from fall 2020.

Qualifications:

The intermediate exam, with at least 75% aggregate
marks and at least 80% marks in Mathematics,

Or The London / Cambridge G.C.E_ (0-level) in at least five subjects including a pass in English Language or Literature and a minimum of two passes at Advanced Level (A-Level), 

One of the Advanced Level passes must be in Mathematics with at least Grade-A or at least Grade-B in case of Further Mathematics or Higher Mathematics) and the other pass must be with at least Grade-C.

  • Age:

The maximum age should be 20 years on the date of publication of this advertisement.

What does it cover?

  1. University tuition fees and associated student levies for 3 years.
  2. An annual living stipend of NZ$25,000 or NZ$2083.33 per month for 36 months.
  3. Medical insurance coverage up to NZ$600 annually for 3 years.
  4. To be eligible for a scholarship, students must:
  5. be a citizen of any country except New Zealand, Australia and Fiji.
  6. hold a minimum equivalent 3.6/4.0 GPA or A/A+ average in your most recent or highest postgraduate tertiary qualification.
  7. conduct your PhD study in New Zealand (not from a distance).
  8. meet the requirements for direct entry into a PhD programme at a New Zealand university. This includes; having completed the required academic qualifications for direct entry and meeting the requirements for English language proficiency.
  9. if you have already commenced your PhD studies in New Zealand, your start date must have been after 15 January of the year of application.

The New Zealand International Doctoral Research Scholarships provide financial support for international students undertaking PhD study at New Zealand universities.
The average value of the scholarships varies depending upon the institution you are attending and area of study. Additional funds are not available to support accompanying dependents.
