What is Independence Day of Pakistan? 14th August or 15 August?

Pakistani flag

Pakistan and India are two different countries but every year on the Independence Day of these two countries when they come to Pakistan on August 14 there is a special kind of debate.

But the two countries became independent at the same time on August 15 under the Indian Act. We will try to tell you on the basis of some evidence that Pakistan and India became independent on the same day on 15th August but why Pakistan celebrates independence on 14th August stay with us.

You should know that a lot of articles are written on it every year but this quarrel does not end and the next year comes again and this is how the series goes. Why do two countries that were liberated at the same time and liberated under the same ears finally celebrate their Independence Day separately?

Why did Lord Mount bitten, the last Viceroy of India, want the partition of India to take place on August 8, and why did Quaid-e-Azam order Pakistan to celebrate Independence Day on August 15 instead of August 14?

Why was the date of August 15 given?

Lord mount baten

My dear friends, when the demand for independence of Muslims and Hindus in the subcontinent gained momentum, the British Prime Minister ordered that we should liberate India on June 1947, but later the British had to liberate India on 14 August 1947. Decided and so it happened and the British liberated India on 14 August 1947.

But why did the British liberate it only on 15th August! An important point is that Lord Mountbatten chose it because the Russian armies surrendered to the Allied forces in World War II on 14 August 1945, so Mount Bitten gave this date its due.

Therefore, he considered the decision of India's independence to be appropriate only on15 August , rather than any other date.

Did Pakistan become independent on 15 August or on 14 August 1947?

pakistan

The first gazette after the independence of Pakistan was issued on 15th August 1947 in which Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was informed that he would be sworn in as the first Governor of Pakistan. Therefore, when Pakistan became independent, Quaid-e-Azam in his first interview with Radio Pakistan clearly stated that Pakistan was created on 15th August 1947.

Let us now mention some of the evidences which prove that Pakistan became independent on 15th August 1947.

The British Parliamentary Act of India clearly states that Pakistan and India came into being on the same day, August 15, 1947, as well as in Pakistan's first dock ticket in July 1948.

British parliament Indian act

Pakistan came into being on 15th August 1947. In addition, an invitation from the Press Information Department of Pakistan, Karachi, stated that Pakistan came into being on August 15, 1947.

Another proof is given that among the annual holidays announced by the Home Minister of Pakistan for December 1948 was the Independence Day of Pakistan on August 15, 1947.

My friends, if we keep all these facts in mind, it proves that Pakistan became independent on 15th August 1947, but then why Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day every year on 14th August 1947 instead of 15th August 1947? Celebrates

Therefore, we have some evidence and reasons to help us understand why Pakistan celebrates its Independence Day on August 14, 1947.

Unavailability of Lord Mount Button:

mount baten

The last Viceroy of India was to send troops to the two independent states of India on August 15, 1947, but at the same time two ceremonies were held at two places, one in Karachi and the other in Delhi, both at Lord Mount bitten. It was not possible to be in places.

In India, on the night between the fifteenth of August 1947 and the fourteenth of August 1947, celebrations were declared all over the country and this was included in the Act.

Let me tell you, it was not just the absence of the Viceroy Mount Button in both places, but the real issue was that he wanted to be the Governor-General of both countries at the same time.

India acknowledged this, but Quaid-e-Azam flatly denied it. Quaid-e-Azam wanted power to be sent directly to Pakistan from the British, not from the new country, India. Therefore, the solution was to send power to Pakistan on 14th August 1947 instead of 15th August 1947.

On this, Lord Mountbatten came to Pakistan on August 13, 1947 and handed over the power of Pakistan's part to Quaid-e-Azam.

Good night of Leela Tul Qadr:

It is also said that the night of 14th August 1947 was Leela Tul Qadr and this night is very sacred for Muslims so the Muslims wanted Pakistan to be liberated on the night of 14th August 1947, also One reason is that Pakistan came into being on August 14, 1947.

Differences in the time zones of the two countries:

time zone

Friends, some people also present the difference in the time zones of the two countries as a logic. They say that when it was twelve o'clock in the night between 14th and 15th August 1947 in Delhi, Karachi time in Pakistan at that time. According to the zone, it was half past eleven at night.

On this basis, people say that Pakistan became independent on August 14, 1947, but this is also misunderstood because at that time the time of the two countries was the same, there was no difference of half an hour. The difference of half an hour today is that it started in 1951.

Liaquat Ali Khan's cabinet summary after the formation of Pakistan:

liaqat ali khan

A cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of Liaquat Ali Khan in the next year, 1948, in which it was unanimously decided that Pakistan's Independence Day should be celebrated on August 14, 1948 instead of August 15, 1947. On which the whole cabinet agreed.

It was informed at the meeting that flags would be hoisted and celebrations would be held in all government offices on August 14, 1914.

A regular summary was prepared at this meeting which was confirmed by the Governor General of Pakistan and published. One of the major reasons for this is that 15th August 1947 was a Sunday and all the offices were closed so the celebrations could not be held in the offices so Quaid-e-Azam decided that Pakistan's Independence Day was 15th August 1947. Not to be celebrated on August 14, 1947.

Kashmir Day 14th August 1931:

kashmir day.

You should know that one of the main reasons for celebrating Pakistan's Independence Day on 14th August is that there was an important issue on that day regarding Kashmir. In India, there is a movement against Dogra Raja in Kashmir.

The main reason is that the Dogra Raja has martyred many innocent Muslims. An excellent meeting is held in which Allama Muhammad Iqbal also participates. It is decided that Kashmir Day will be celebrated on 14th August every year and Kashmir Day was celebrated till 1947.

Some people also think that this is why Quaid-e-Azam approved the formation of Pakistan on August 14.

Two nation theory:

Some people also say that the two countries which have been taken on the basis of two national ideologies, their separate singing identity is very important. It is also said that it is necessary to celebrate the Independence Day of both the countries separately. Therefore, Pakistan will celebrate its Independence Day one day before India.

Final Words:

Friends, in spite of all these information and facts, Pakistan came into existence legally under the Indian Act on 15th August 1947. But there were some big reasons that we have put before you. Based on these, Quaid-e-Azam decided that Pakistan's Independence Day should be celebrated on 14th August instead of 15th August.

In my opinion, perhaps two of the biggest reasons were that Quaid-e-Azam did not take power from the Indian Governor and was lazy.

We hope you enjoy the articleof What is Independence Day of Pakistan? and give us your feedback. If you don't agree with us, please let us know in the comments.

Thank you.

Alumni Scholars at Nottingham

Here is what one of our 2015 Alumni Masters Scholarship winners says about their scholarship:
"It was such an honour to receive the scholarship, and a great motivation to do my best in my studies... It has been great here in Nottingham so far. The lectures have been amazing and the whole overall experience has been the best... It was surprisingly really easy to settle down, considering that it is my first time here in the UK... I'm really enjoying my stay here and am hoping to do my PhD here as well."
